My Wicked Birthday

I had one of those momentous, milestone, decade-starting birthdays on Friday.  No I won’t say which one.  The important thing is that thanks to my wonderful family, and especially my husband, we had a momentously fun day to celebrate it. When I came home from work I discovered that Peter and Catherine (Albert’s sibs and the closest thing I have to a brother and sister) had sent me a beautiful fruit basket from Edible Arrangements along with a Happy Birthday balloon and special “doggy pop-up” card; I had received a generous gift certificate from the both of them earlier in the day. My Wicked Day

Friday was my mom’s birthday and we planned to go to Los Angeles/Hollywood after school. When we got there we went to a restaurant that looked like a small cottage and I had Macaroni and Cheese. I accidentally spilled water all over the table and couch and a little on my mom and dad. It embarrassed me in front of everybody. I really should be more careful next time. Then we had a dessert called Banana and Ice Cream Flambay. At the end I got to blow out a candle.

A "Wicked" Review

My life has been changed for the better!  I have a new favorite musical and its name is Wicked! (A Broadway show based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West) On Friday, I saw the Los Angeles production performed at the Pantages theater. Wicked tells the story of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West from the perspective of Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. In addition to Elphaba and Glinda, Wicked focuses on 6 other characters and also has a few numbers that require the use of a large ensemble cast otherwise known as The Citizens of Oz.  I loved everything about Wicked from the wonderful costumes to the casts’ magnificent voices and fabulous performance.
