Negotiating Tactics of the 6 Year Old

Published by Jenny under Family, Old Blogs

If you had told me that I’d learn the best negotiating tactics from a 6 year old I never would have believed it.  But here I am.  Everyday.  Negotiating.  With my daughter.  Over stuff that she wants that doesn’t really provide a benefit to me except that giving in to her request ends the standoff.

These are the lessons that Ekrina has taught me about negotiatons. Continue Reading »

Albert was right

Published by Jenny under Old Blogs

As usual, Albert has proved an apt predictor of the future.

I said I wanted to blog.

He said Jenny are you sure?  I know you, you’ll probably look at it once and then forget about it.

I said, no Albert I’ll blog EVERYDAY!

He said ok, I’ll sign up for the site and yada yada I just don’t want to pay the money if you aren’t going to use it.

I said - that will NEVER happen I told you I’d blog EVERYDAY!  What dont you believe me?

Well considering that the last time I posted was in August and it is now the END of October we can see who was correct.  Looks like I have a lot of lost time to catch up on.  But probably better not to dump it all out at once.  So…today’s topic - Jenny sucks at blogging (aka Albert was right) and tomorrow’s….The Loss of Innocence (ooh feel the intrigue)….

Badminton and First Grade

Published by Jenny under Family, Old Blogs

Two completely unrelated topics unless you consider that my badminton skills seem to be rather elementary these days.  Al and I just joined the gym again and have been trying to brush up our game.  Seems like we are doing a better job at providing entertainment for our opponents.

Ekrina started first grade this week - yes, can you believe it-school in July/August?  In California there are year round schools.  Since I grew up in Connecticut I still have a hard time processing the idea that school starts in July.  The school seems great so far with lots of activities and programs for the kids (and volunteer opportunities for the moms and dads of course!) so we are excited.  More importantly Ekrina seems to be excited and enjoying herself as well as learning.
