An Adventurous Easter

If I had to pick the part of the Villa Ekrina liked the most, I’d say that she really enjoyed the hands-on experience in the family room. One section of the room allows you to recreate a battle scene by using foam weapons and standing behind a silhouette screen. Another station let’s you do a rubbing of patterns onto a picture of an ancient pot. There were also sample pots that you could create your own design on by using erasable markers and a wall that showed all of the types of pots on display in the rest of the Villa and provided an explanation on what they were used for.

Ekrina even acted as a tour guide during part of our visit. She had a great time explaining
to mom what all of the statues, jewelry and pottery on display in glass cases were made of - mostly marble, bronze and pigment. She seemed much more fascinated by the museum exhibits than I remember being at her age.
