Screen Actors Guild Awards: Play-by-Play Results
**AWARDS TIME RESUMES**
Outstanding performance by a female in a supporting role:
WINNER: Ruby Dee, "American Gangster"
NOT THE WINNERS aka NOMINEES:
Cate Blanchett, "I’m Not There"
Catherine Keener, "Into the Wild"
Amy Ryan, "Gone Baby Gone"
Tilda Swinton, "Michael Clayton"
My reaction play-by-play:
First: Even though there was a commercial break it is hard to switch gears from In Memoriam mode back to awards.
Two: I’d really like to see "Into the Wild"
Three: Congrats Ruby Dee.
Outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role:
WINNER: Daniel Day-Lewis, "There Will Be Blood"
NOT THE WINNERS aka NOMINEES:
George Clooney, "Michael Clayton"
Ryan Gosling, "Lars and the Real Girl"
Emile Hirsch, "Into the Wild"
Viggo Mortensen, "Eastern Promises"
My reaction play-by-play:
First: I like some of the other movies Ryan Gosling has been in and the premise for "Lars and the Real Girl" sounds interesting. But I missed it in the theaters.
Two: I’d really like to see "Into the Wild" (Repeated reaction from above.)
Three: "There Will Be Blood" must be really good because it’s one of the few movies I’ve seen a LOONNNGGG line for at a nearby theater at 10 in the morning. Normally people don’t line up that early.
Four: Daniel Day-Lewis did a better job memorializing Heath Ledger than the In Memoriam segment did. And this is quite amazing because according to an interview I saw him do with Oprah a couple days ago he had said that he didn’t actually know Heath Ledger although he felt that he would have really liked him if he had known him.
